love this book

Don't get me wrong. I greatly enjoyed the book, study guide, and the DVD teaching. Everything that Francis Chan has come up with has been eye opening and life transforming for me, and for those that have gone through his material with me.

Having said that, I, personally, would not recommend using just the DVD. The teachings, of which were for the most part good, left you feeling like you were sitting in on a study that Francis was conducting. It felt like he was not talking to us (the viewers of the study) but to the people that were with him in the actual room where he filmed it. It felt like he was speaking just within his context of where he was, and not to us where we were. The only other thing that stood out to me about the DVD was that there were a few sessions where I felt very uncomfortable. Meaning, if I had been in an actual study, I would not have wanted to contribute to the discussion.

Now with saying this, I highly recommend that you watch the DVD to make your own assessment of the material. My personal recommendation for this study would be to do it as a book study. Read the book together as a group, and use the study guide to help facilitate discussion, along with your own questions or observations that you come up with while reading. Use the DVD material only if you have to. But...again...watch the DVD before doing this study with a group and determine for yourself if you want to use it.

Highly recommend this DVD for anyone! I'm going to use it in our home-group.
